Mission
ESC Modular Trench Box Series is a trench shoring system especially designed for flexibility that allows a variety of configurations as required by users. With its modular structure and aluminum alloy composition, the weight is at least 50% lower compared to a steel trench shoring equivalent. ESC Modular Trench Box is an efficient trenching solution engineered to a high degree of quality and strength, making it an ideal solution for a wide array of excavation and trenching works, particularly quick-phased shoring applications.
Compact components weighing 17 lbs. can be used with light-duty vehicles such as pick-up trucks or 110 lbs. only, and can be delivered to the site by smaller trucks.
The system involves a few parts and can be assembled in minutes by a two-man crew using basic tools.
Smooth panel surfaces reduce friction against soil and the accumulation of dirt.
Tongue and groove interlocking design for easy assembly.
A load rating matrix for each soil classification prepared by a Professional Engineer is readily available for easy reference and model selection.
Foam-filled panels are supplied as a standard procedure
Adjustable strut or spreader to conveniently increase work room and accommodate a bigger volume of utilities.
Stackable panels to increase height up to 25ft.
Three-way T-shaped posts to enable branching.
Segmental or full-length corner post.
Construction and repair of sewer and drainage appurtenances such as manholes, inlets, pits, basins or tanks, cleanouts, and more.
Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of underground utilities like electrical and internet cables, oil and gas pipelines, water supply lines, and others.
Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of sewage and drainage networks.
General excavation.
Foundation works.
Emergency and temporary earth support.
Other infrastructure projects involving excavation, confined spaces, and unstable soil
Noteworthy Benefits and Advantages
Portability and Quick Assembly
AP series panels come in 2ft standard height and length of 2ft to 16ft (2ft increment), and weigh only around 8lbs per foot. In figures, the weight of a piece of panel ranges from 17.5lbs to 110lbs, so smaller panels can be easily loaded/unloaded by hand by a single person, and bigger panels by two. Posts are available in 2ft to 12ft lengths (2ft increments), weighing from 13lbs to 110lbs, not likely to create a different handling scenario, and the same is true with struts and spreaders.
Aluminum portable boxes require very little room for setup, which makes them appropriate for smaller or congested jobsites. Assembly is fast and easy, and can be completed without the aid of equipment, which is way safer and cheaper for obvious reasons. The installation of the box assembly is simply done using lighter equipment, such as small excavators.
Flexible Installation
The modular nature and versatility of the aluminum trench box system enable on-the-spot changes, minor or significant, according to actual site conditions. The suite of element sizes with close increments also creates advantages in small spaces and where multiple crossing utilities are present. Having multiple profiles and variations of trench box parts is also a guarantee that any configuration of trench can be handled.
Durability / Longevity
While most steel is prone to corrosion by rust, aluminum is rust-resistant. Trench boxes are considered jobsite workhorses; thus, they are heavily exposed to harsh environments and conditions that cause their fast deterioration. Aluminum modular trench boxes were introduced in the market to address the struggle of rust proofing, while going compact to compensate for their inferiority against impacts.
Economy
Low operational cost due to the absence of large equipment involved in the transportation and installation is a strong credential for modular aluminum trench boxes in this field. During manufacture, steel trench boxes are provided with a protective coating, typically paint, to fight rust and corrosion. Aluminum trench boxes do not need any coating because of their superior rust-corrosion resistance. Steel trench boxes will need one or several coats of paint during their lifecycle. Aluminum never does.
A Green Option
Elimination or significant reduction in the use of the size of the machine in handling modular aluminum trench boxes also minimizes carbon emissions or “footprint”.
